President Fernandez will travel to Nicaragua to
President Leonel Fernandez will travel today to Managua, Nicaragua, to attend the emergency meeting convened by members of the Central American Integration System and the Caribbean (SICA), which analyzed the political crisis in Honduras after the ousting of President Manuel Zelaya Rosales.
Fernandez will leave the country at 11 am on a private flight for San Isidro Air Base.
Leaders representing the SICA member nations will meet in the capital of Nicaragua, at the request of the presidents of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez and Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, who called on Sunday for the agency to analyze the situation presented in Honduras after the civilian-military coup against the constitutional government of Zelaya Rosales.
The meeting has been invited President Manuel Zelaya Rosales, who was taken to Costa Rica, after the civilian-military coup against him.
The international community especially governments of America and Europe have refused to overthrow the legitimate government of Zelaya Rosales.
The Dominican government rejected the action coup against democracy in Honduras in a statement Sunday stating that "represents a setback because it violates the Democratic Charter of the Organization of American States (OAS)."
